ScanLab chooses topics from the decisions a first-time scanner buyer or workshop operator must make: prepare the bench, establish a stable capture, verify dimensions, and deliver useful data to CAD. Articles answer a defined reader question and are updated when the underlying workflow or primary documentation changes.
Sources and testing
Technical claims are checked against current manufacturer manuals, official software documentation, standards bodies, and measurement-science sources. A manufacturer specification is labeled as a specification. A measured number is published as a ScanLab result only when the bench setup, device, software version, mode, reference, method, and relevant conditions are recorded. Results from another publication are attributed rather than presented as local measurements.
Review method
Hands-on reviews preserve raw captures and project files where possible. The editor records calibration state, connection path, lighting, reference-part readings, processing operations, export units, and downstream import checks. Products supplied by a manufacturer are disclosed. Commercial relationships do not determine the conclusion.
Corrections
Readers can report errors to editor@scanlab.3d-journal.com with the article title and supporting source. The editor checks the original evidence, updates material errors promptly, and adds context when an earlier statement could mislead. Silent changes are reserved for spelling, grammar, and formatting that do not alter meaning.
Editorial independence
ScanLab does not accept payment for a favorable verdict. Safety instructions, formal inspection, and manufacturer support remain outside the role of an editorial guide.
